Miguel Afa

Miguel Afa (b. 1987, Rio de Janeiro) began his artistic path through graffiti in the Complexo do Alemão before studying at the Escola de Belas Artes – UFRJ. His paintings draw on everyday life in the periphery, marked by sensitivity and care, and engage themes such as affective relationships, racial identity, and the reimagining of Black and favela narratives. Using earthy tones and precise brushwork, Afa’s work blends Western artistic influences with a distinct Brazilian perspective.
