Mikko Sinervo
Finnish, born 1981

Fascinated by his own perception of light, Mikko Sinervo makes abstract photographs through which he attempts to capture the varied ways in which he sees light in all of its forms. In his work, Sinervo seeks to convey not only what light looks like but also how he experiences it. For example, in his “Afterimage” (2008-09) series, he explores the effect of bright sunlight on his retina by recreating the pulsing, vividly colored spots that linger after the eye is exposed to the sun.
