Miru Kim
American, born 1981
Represented by industry leading galleries.

Miru Kim explores the city as though it were a living organism. The artist, who was born in the United States and raised in South Korea, uses her adopted home of New York City as a stage for her conceptual performance pieces. She delves into the infrastructure of the city—and beyond—to explore such unseen spaces as abandoned subway stations and underground sewer tunnels. Kim stands completely naked in these places and photographs her living flesh as a stark counterpoint to the decay around her. The artist uses the complexity of the city as a symbol for the human body, while calling to mind ideas of isolation and the sense of artistic melancholy in the modern world.
