Morten Andenæs
Norwegian, born 1979

Morten Andenaes’ photographs express a profound ambivalence, revealing objects, figures, and scenes filtered through varying levels of abstraction. Initially, his images appear wholly flat and neutral, but Andenaes intends them to serve as a catalyst for autonomous reflection. His ongoing project “Re: The Middle Class” is a collection of seemingly mundane photographs that spans a wide range of subjects, from affectless people to drab architectural elements. Rather than celebrate or critique, the images create distance from the realities that they capture.
