Neil Winokur
American, b. 1945
40 Followers
Born in 1945 in New York, Neil Winokur is a photographer who has used the tropes of commercial photography—heroic "product" shots of objects set against solid, vibrant backgrounds—to explore contemporary American culture. A Chinese restaurant takeout container, a bagel, and a roll of toilet paper are just some of the objects Winokur has memorialized. Also well-known for his portraits, Winokur's images are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among other institutions.
