Norman Borden
I’m a native New Yorker, and have been involved with photography since about age 12 when my father brought home a box of very used darkroom equipment. While mostly self-taught, I’ve enhanced my photographic skills over the years with master classes at the New School, the International Center of Photography, and the Maine Media Workshops.
This is my fourth solo exhibition at Soho Photo Gallery; my work has also been selected for juried group shows at the New Orleans Photo Alliance, the Darkroom Gallery in Vermont, the 22nd annual Legacy show at the Griffin Museum of Photography, and the 2016 Miami Street Photography festival, among other venues. In 2011, I was commissioned to take 70 photographs for the book, Synagogues on New York’s Lower East Side by Dr. Gerard Wolfe that was published in 2013 by Fordham University Press.
As a photography critic, I’ve written over 130 reviews of gallery shows for NYPhotoReview.com, and the weekly newspapers, Chelsea Now and The Villager.
