Olivier Debré was born in 1920 in Paris, he died in 1999 in Paris. His main characteristic is the importance of gestures in his painting. He considered his art as relative to Impressionism : "I am very close, I repeat it, with the Impressionnistes. Whether I paint with large brushstrokes or with touches, I am painting my emotion."
Over time, the size of his almost monochromatic compositions was more and more monumental.
By placing the pictorial material on fluid backgrounds, Olivier Debré reflects the chromatic atmosphere and the emotion felt in the face of a landscape.
