Paul Beumer

Dutch artist Paul Beumer’s paintings and watercolours are shaped the way landscapes are formed and are reminiscent of slow crystallisation processes in nature. They engage in an open-ended dialogue with the history of abstract painting, while simultaneously investigating notions of romanticism and spirituality.
Beumer received his BFA from the Royal Academy of Art in The Hague and recently completed his two-year residency at the prestigious Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten in Amsterdam.
Recent solo exhibitions include Iwon’t have the luxury of seeing scenes like this much longer, Durst, Britt and Mayhew, The Hague; Tomorrow’s Harvest at Bosse & Baum in London, Parallel in Vienna and Walden Affairs in The Hague (2015). He participated in major group exhibitions at the Amsterdam Art Fair, Amsterdam (2016); Van Nelle Fabriek in Rotterdam (2014), the Rijksakademie Open Studios in Amsterdam (2013 and 2014), Museum De Paviljoens in Almere, Netherlands (2012) and the Gemeentemuseum in The Hague (2010). In 2009 he was nominated for the Royal Prize for Contemporary Painting and his work was exhibited in the Royal Palace in Amsterdam. Work by Beumer is held in private and public collections, including the AKZO Nobel Art Foundation, Amsterdam; the collection of the District Court of Law, Amsterdam; and the KRC Collection, Voorschoten, Netherlands.
