Biography

Paul Kremer’s precise, minimalist work reflects his technical training as a graphic and web designer. Employing bold, recurring shades of red-orange, deep turquoise, and gray, Kremer’s layered shapes come together in careful abstract compositions. At times, the artist cleverly hints at representational subjects—several rectangles melt together and become a window; layered triangles and polygons become glaciers, mountains, or grazing farm animals. With his focus on refined forms and color, Kremer emerges as a contemporary disciple of Ellsworth Kelly, Donald Judd, Sol LeWitt, and other Minimalist artists. He is also the creator of the popular art and humour blog, “Great Art In Ugly Rooms,” which features masterworks photoshopped into public bathrooms, messy kitchens, and other unexpected spaces.
