Paul Vazquez

Influenced by Abstract Expressionism and Pop Art and drawing his color palette from Fauvism, Paul Vazquez creates autobiographical paintings and drawings from the people, art, architecture, and flora he is surrounded with. A colorist first, he blends figure with abstraction through the intersection of oppositely colored fields. Vazquez’s subject matter is incredibly diverse; in his “DNA & Home” series (1993-94), repetitive patterns reference both DNA and the tensions between straight lines and curves, chaos and order that exist in the natural world.
