Paula Castro
Argentine, b. 1978
Paula Castro is a visual artist born in Buenos Aires in 1978. Although she studied graphic design in the University of Buenos Aires (FADU) her plastic education was developed in a self-taught way until 2015 where she participated in the Artists Program of the Torcuato Di Tella University, Buenos Aires. In 2020 he received the 3rd prize in sculpture of the Concurso de Artes Visuales del Fondo Nacional de las Artes. In 2019 she won the FNA Creation Grant. In 2018 she received the Oxenford Collection - 8th Edition - Travel Grant with which she traveled to Vienna, Autria to carry out a research and residency at the Gugging Museum, an international reference for the outsider art. In 2011 she received the Aide Individuelle au Projet d’ Arts Plastiques from the Mairie de Paris, France.
She showed her work in solo and group exhibitions in Argentina, France, Belgium, Spain and the United States. In addition, she developed some curatorial projects, among them Salón Panteísta, 2017 a group show around the T.R.I.P.A. project. by Maximiliano Masuelli at Mite Galería and Joven Talento Homosexual by Dudu A. Quintanilha also at Mite Galería in Buenos Aires. Among her collaborative projects related to her artistic practice, the following stand out: Lo que pasó la navidad de 1980 with Santiago Villanueva at Galería Isla Flotante, 2020; Mi Culpa, 2016 with Alejo Ponce de León in Mite Galería, Originales Menos Perfectos, 2019, invited by Claudia del Río, CCK. In 2017 she created the Fanzine Publishing House Pato de Vidrio. She is a member of the group of artists GPN (Geometría Pueblo Nuevo).
