Per B Sundberg

Per B Sundberg altered the course of Swedish design in the 1990s with the advent of new techniques and the creation of experimental ceramics and glassworks. Working at the Orrefors glassworks studio from 1994 to 2005, Stockholm-based Sundberg began embedding heat-resistant decals derived from popular culture into his glassworks, causing the images to melt into floral configurations of color. The artist also challenged traditional glasswork shapes, such as vases, and gave his irregularly formed works unusual names like Object with Hole. Sundberg has run his own studio since 2005 and has continued to push the boundaries of the medium with his lifelike ceramics modeled after skulls, mushrooms, and other organic matter.
