Peter Welz
German, b. 1972
Peter Welz’s (*1972) complex, sculptural video installations are experimental explorations into the dynamic relationship between figure and space. His kinetic experiments draw on various means: from drawing to painting to sculpture, video, and dance, a variety of methods are brought into play. The usual limits of perception are transgressed with the help of loops, extreme decelerations, or accelerations. His expansive installations have been exhibited at the Musée du Louvre in Paris, the National Museum of Art in Mexico City, the National Museum of Modern Art in Tokyo, and Martin-Gropius-Bau in Berlin. His works are found in such prestigious museum collec- tions as the Center Pompidou, Paris; the Museum of Modern Art, Frankfurt; the Neue Nationalgalerie, Berlin; and in many private collections.
