Rasmus Refer
Danish, b. 1970
Rasmus Refer works with steel, stone, bronze, and acrylic, creating sculptural forms that explore light, texture, and materiality. His works feature fluctuating edges, fractures, and layered surfaces, allowing light to shift their expression throughout the day. Engaging with the concrete art movement, he focuses on form, structure, and spatial interaction.
Born into a family of artists, Refer was immersed in art from an early age, shaping his tactile and process-driven approach. His practice balances industrial precision with organic irregularities, transforming rigid materials into dynamic compositions. Whether through polished metal, patinated iron, or fluorescent acrylic, his work investigates the interplay of material, light, and perception.
