Rhona Bitner

Photographer Rhona Bitner explores the way theater and performance can be represented in two dimensions. “My work is an observation of the parallels between photography and theater,” she says. “In both we enter a black space and an image appears.” Bitner’s color portraits of clowns, circus performance, and uninhabited stages each try to capture the latent energies and emotions that live on and around the stage. She has also attempted to capture the lingering energy of past performances in her photographs of abandoned and decaying theaters.
