Ric Evans

“Geometric order and measurement play a large role in our daily lives. Its omnipresence is everywhere. This interest and the desire to paint have sustained my work for thirty years.
Our world also provides us with colour and texture in nature and industry. My daily practice is to paint the feeling of this order of things; composing geometrically within the frame of reference, which is my canvas.
Because geometry plays a part in the control of everyday life, it has a symbolic role in our culture. As an artist, I contemplate this and it informs my painting,” Ric Evans.
Born in Toronto in 1946, Ric Evans has exhibited widely, both nationally and internationally. His work is held in a number of important private and public collections, including the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, the Art Gallery of Ontario, University of Toronto and Toronto Dominion bank. Evans has taught at the University of Toronto, York University and at NSCAD University, among others.
