Sandra Vucicevic
Serbian,

Reflecting an amalgam of styles and techniques, New York–based Sandra Vucicevic’s multidimensional art practice centers on painting, particularly a large body of abstract paintings that explore her understanding of space through gesture and color. Nonfigurative, the acrylic on canvas works position space as a chaotic sequence of colors and textures that collide and shift into one another. For the 2015 World Expo in Milan, Vucicevic expanded her exploration of color to encompass food dyes, creating figurative paintings and color wheels using the set of colored food dyes permitted by the United States and the European Union. Through this project, she sought to highlight the ways color informs and manifests in individuals’ actual dietary behaviors.
