Sara Ludy
American, b. 1980
Sara Ludy works across an array of digital art media to examine notions of space and immateriality. In the form of video, digital painting, works of augmented reality and virtual reality, and other new media, Ludy’s art visualizes memories, the unconscious, and other subjects that otherwise lack physical presence. A graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago’s BFA program, Ludy studied painting. New media continues to inform her work. After having and remembering her first lucid dream in 2002, she worked on projects like Dream House (2014), a virtual, architectural 3D model of a dream space. Though best known for works that exist in the virtual realm, Ludy also creates prints and sculptures, including the pieces made for her series “Animistic,” which reflects her long-standing exploration of hybrid worlds.
