Inspiration is found in the most subtle details for Sarah Picon, who spies seemingly insignificant images throughout her day that form the basis of her work. An empty corner in a room or the delicate light cast on an overlooked object become illuminated by Picon, who was the child of two artist parents and grew up seeing the art in everything. Today Picon has a studio overlooking the Seine River, near Paris, and a second studio among the hills of Provence, where she produces works that combine drawing and painting. With careful attention to color, Picon grinds and mixes precise pigments; her thoughtful discipline with subtle details renders otherwise ordinary subjects into sensitively resolved figures, landscapes, and still lifes.
