Sašo Vrabič
Slovene, b. 1974
In 1997 Sašo Vrabič graduated in painting from the Academy of Ljubljana under the guidance of Prof. Andrej Jemec. Even before completing his studies, he had the opportunity to participate in the exhibition of the Modern Gallery in Ljubljana. Then, in 2001, he completed his Master's degree in the Department of Graphic Arts under Prof. Lojze Logar. He is engaged in painting and other forms of visual and sound art.
Sašo Vrabič is one of the most prominent representatives of the so-called post-media painting. In his expressive works, he usually comments on the nature of the modern information society, its technological dependence and noise, and the relationships in interpersonal communication.
He has developed a clear artistic style of raw naturalism with admixtures of uncontrolled abstract interventions and collages.
His works mix scenes from his life, inspirations from fleeting encounters and images, representations of banal moments and stories from our surroundings and popular images from the general media.
He often creates images in collaboration, where interventions or dialogue with partners (family, co-creators) complement the works with fleeting artistic commentary.
He gives the final meaning to his works with carefully chosen titles that suggest a message while providing a basis for the viewer to develop their own interpretation of the works.
