Scott Galvan
Mexican, 27/08/1998
Scott Galván (b. 1998, Guadalajara, Mexico) is a visual artist with a focus on painting and ceramics. In his work, he contemplates the relationship between humans and nature and how this is often mediated through images created for commercial purposes, such as hunting, tourism, and gastronomy.
His work can be described as "encyclopedic fan-fiction", as his drawings and paintings often emulate illustrations found in science journals and textbooks. It's also common to see elements from his personal experiences and family history, which he employs to understand his bond with nature. He further explores this relationship by identifying similarities and patterns between natural ecosystems his immediate surroundings.
Scott Galván is a graduate of the Escuela Nacional de Pintura, Escultura y Grabado (La Esmeralda) with a degree in Visual Arts. He currently resides in Mexico City.
