Sek Chern Hong
Singaporean ink artist Hong Sek Chern is best known for her urban landscapres that feature a masterful interplay of architectural blocks and lines. Her paintings often accentuate both interior and exterior spaces that sometimes collapse into one another, providing unique perspectives of urban landscapes. Moreover, many of her paintings explore tensions between the old and the new, as her works destabilize notions of space and time through her masterful merging of urban structures that belong to different temporalities.
Hong is an acclaimed artist as she is not only the recipient of the National Arts Council Young Artist Award (2000) and the prestigious President's Young Talent Award 2001, but she also won the 26th UOB Painting Of The Year (POY) Competition.
