Sergio Cappelli and Patrizia Ranzo were both born in Naples and have collaborated since 1979. Their sculptural objects include bold, undulating forms that often hint at the human figure—with profile silhouettes or body parts incorporated into their designs. In 2011, their colorful Figure dal buio (Library)—with its backlit printed aluminum shapes—was included in “Independent. Design secession” at the Triennale di Milano, an exhibition that focused on designers who work outside of the design system to create visions all their own. Their unique approach to design has led to projects for Alessi, BMW, and Swatch.
