STATEMENT:
For the past two years I have been exploring safety glass as both material and metaphor.
I create objects from the glass; I project videos of myself, onto its surface, breaking it and engaging it with other actions in a room-sized installations that combine the two.
Safety glass is made up from two layers of glass that are connected with a layer of glue.
When safety glass is hit by a strong force, it doesn’t break into pieces—it shatters into a cracked surface.
Its previous transparency turns opaque and blurry, scarred with a network of breaks and powdered bits of glass.
