Hearts, homes, vines, babies, cats and stars find their way into my ceramic stories. Though my work is personal, these symbols speak to me of connections we share to family and friends, death and birth.
The ceramic sculptures and wall reliefs with teapot slab and coil constructed. They are made of a high fire stoneware clay body. The pieces are bisqued and then airbrushed with black porcelain slip. They are fired to cone 8 and oil painted after they are unloaded from the kiln. The teapots are functional with satin and gloss glazes often with accents of oil paint.
