Stephen Wilkes

Stephen Wilkes is a fine art photographer and National Geographic Explorer recognized for his innovative storytelling. His five-year Ellis Island project helped raise $6 million for restoration and was named one of TIME’s Best Photography Books. His renowned Day to Night series, started in 2009, compresses 30 hours into a single image and has been exhibited globally. Wilkes has also documented climate disasters, directed the film Jay Myself, and filmed a solar eclipse in Antarctica for The Sphere. His work is held in major institutions, including the Fenimore Art Museum, George Eastman Museum, Library of Congress, MFA Houston, and the 9/11 Memorial Museum. He earned a B.S. from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School.
