Tamiko Thiel

Tamiko Thiel, born 1957, is an American artist, known for her digital art. She is a visual artist exploring the interplay of place, space, the body and cultural identity in works encompassing an artificial intelligence (AI) supercomputer, objects, installations, digital prints in 2D and 3D, videos, interactive 3d virtual worlds (VR), augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence art. Her work is often “exploring the interplay of place, space, the body and cultural identity,” and utilizing augmented reality (AR) as her platform. Thiel is based in Munich, Germany.
Since 1994, Thiel has worked with virtual reality, later on including augmented reality to her practice. Within the past 10 years, her work has mainly consisted of site-specific augmented reality installations.
