TAREK
French, b. 1971
The multi-disciplinary artist, Tarek, was born in 1971. He studied medieval history and the history of art at the Sorbonne. He published ‘Paris Tonkar’ at the age of 20, which became the first book dedicated to graffiti art, a discipline which would cultivate the start of his prolific artistic career.
An all-round artist, he also turns his hand to producing comics, to screenwriting for European and American documentaries and dramas, and to photography. He has even created his own publication, ‘Paris Tonkar Magazine’, dedicated to urban art and graffiti. He has published several comic books, which he exhibits at various festivals, and which have won him around twenty awards. His artwork has been displayed worldwide (in Paris, Lyon, Marseille, Rennes, Brussels, Montreal, New York, Geneva, Zürich, Hamburg, Venice, Lodz, Prague, Athens, Zagreb, Budapest, Kribi, Sao Paulo, etc.).
