Tarik Kiswanson transforms sculpture into a highly experiential artform. Using highly reflective stainless steel and polished brass, Kiswanson’s pieces effectively become mirrors that encompass the exhibition space and surrounding viewers. Even air circulating in the gallery or vibrations from spectators stomping feet can make some of his more thinly cut bands of metal sway in response. With the obviousness and responsiveness of his structures, he borrows from Minimalism. In his rejection of simplified geometry and form, however, Kiswanson ushers in a new type of abstract sculpture.
