Tatiana Trouvé

Tatiana Trouvé's Bureau d'Activités Implicites, a decade-long project begun in 1997, documented her struggle to establish herself as a professional artist. A collection of modules resembling standard office cubicles, the work showcases ephemera gathered while in a state of waiting. Influenced by Alighiero Boetti, Trouvé is interested in the ability of art to "become," or to make a promise. Recent installations and sculptures reference Minimalism and Joseph Beuys, exploring ideas such as the use of both domestic and industrial materials (her 2010 work Mattress was a concrete-cast, doubled-up mattress strapped to a pole) and harnessing copper's conductivity to transform wall drawings. Trouvé received a Duchamp Prize in 2007.
