Thiago Rocha Pitta is best known for his “collaborations” with nature, outdoor interventions that harness its forces, processes, and beauty. He has created an inverted fountain by the side of a lake, a performance and video of a small floating boat engulfed in flames, and an installation of mirrors on a cliff to grant viewers the experience walking on the sky. Rocha Pitta is particularly interested in transformation and decay, and even in his static paintings, he seeks to express the essential energy of natural processes, whether in the dissipation of smoke or the descent of fog.
