Like the work of the Futurists, Thomas Burke’s hard-edge geometric paintings reveal a fascination with technology, industry, and motion. Burke begins each of his pieces with a computer-generated study, which he then translates using acrylic paint on canvas or aluminum. Contemporary graphic design, digital technology, Op Art, and the hard-edge geometric abstraction of Frank Stella and Sol Lewitt all converge in Burke’s work. “My primary effort is to make color, design, and space, equally interesting and equally involved in the viewing experience,” he says.
