Till Rabus

Swiss artist Till Rabus is best known for his oil paintings. Subjects range from fast food to naked bodies, which he paints on his canvas with an hyperrealist-surrealist style. Rabus likes combining discarded objects or parts of human bodies in playful, perturbing, and occasionally morbid compositions. In his series ‘Fetish’, for instance, wooden structures are assembled with deflated balloons, beer tops, crashed Coca Cola cans, and animal feathers to compose mysterious anthropomorphic creatures. Behind Rabus’ seductive compositions, the viewer might easily find a critical commentary on issues such as overconsumption, food waste, and body objectification.
