When you look at Kenyon's paintings, the obvious adjective to describe them is realistic, perhaps even ultra-realistic because, in fact, they look very much like photographs. But Kenyon says that his work is not realistic at all; it is fantasy derived from a variety of real elements one finds on the beach, such as water, foam, sand, and rocks.
More than portraits of the ocean, Kenyon's work captures the multifaceted spirit of contemporary painting.
