Torsten Richter

Torsten Enzio Richter (1979) was born in Zwickau, Germany. Initially trained as a radio technician and graphic artist, he went back to school to study drawing with Thomas Rug at the Burg Giebichenstein Kunsthochschule in Halle, Germany. He lives and works in Halle.

Torsten Enzio Richter draws, in the meticulous way of the old masters, everyday objects, used or discarded – a scythe, a pitchfork, a rusted bayonet. His objects assert themselves through the composition of the drawing: placed centrally and enlarged into the whiteness of the paper, they draw attention to the simple functionality of the tools and their surprising sensory properties.
