Wayne Edson Bryan
American, b. 1957
Wayne Edson Bryan was born in Mineola, NY in 1957. He studied
Fine Art at the University of South Florida, where he also worked
as a production assistant at Graphicstudio II. Known for densely
layered imagery, heightened process and metaphorical content,
his intricate works are inspired by advertising, outsider art, and
popular culture. He has received numerous awards, grants and
fellowships from national institutions, including: NEA Painting
Fellowship, Pollock-Krasner Foundation Grant, and Virginia
Museum of Fine Arts Fellowship. His work has been featured in
and reviewed by: Art in America, Artforum, IdN, Washington Post,
and New Art Examiner, and can be found in collections of major
corporations, museums, public spaces, and private individuals.
Bryan lives and works in Alexandria, Virginia.
