Will Steacy
American , born 1980

American photographer Will Steacy uses his medium to track the economic decline of America, and the desolation of once-prosperous cities like Detroit, Michigan, and Gary, Indiana. Using a four-by-five camera and long exposures, the Philadelphia native travels around the country as he documents the erosion of the American dream through photographs of abandoned buildings, littered streets, and closed businesses, as well as moving portraits of everyday people. In one long-running project he turned his lens to the troubled Philadelphia Inquirer, a potent symbol emblematic of the decline of the newspaper business in the digital age, as well as the former employer of his father.
