Willehad Eilers
German, b. 1981
Eilers, also known by his pseudonym Wayne Horse, began his artistic journey in the German graffiti scene before studying at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie and the Rijksakademie in Amsterdam. His eclectic practice—rooted in drawing, painting, and video—explores cultural and political behaviors with lyrical humor and expressiveness. Eilers often engages in cross-genre collaborations, including music projects and merchandise under MEDIUM EFFORT ENTERPRISES. His work has been shown in solo exhibitions at Museum Jan Cunen, Concordia, Galerie Droste, and Harlan Levey Projects, and in group shows at ICA London, Kunsthal Rotterdam, and the Venice Biennale, among others. His videos have screened at IDFA, Kasseler Dokfest, and Pictoplasma. His work is held in collections including Lisser Art Museum and Colección SOLO. Since 2019, he has published The Horse Diaries, documenting his ongoing creative explorations.
