Xeato
b. 1985
Xeato began his graffiti practice in 2007, initially drawing inspiration from French street artists. A visit to Paris in 2011 exposed him to the city's alternative graffiti scene—raw, post-graffiti aesthetics that challenged traditional styles. During the trip, he also attended Horfe’s solo exhibition, where the artist’s dual approach to painting both in the streets and the studio left a lasting impression.
Since 2023, Xeato has been working on a new landscape series. His technique creates an intriguing visual effect—viewed from a distance, the image appears cohesive, but up close, one can discern up to 15 colors within a small section. He continues to expand his studio practice, experimenting with different techniques and genres.
Xeato is part of 10.203, a St. Petersburg-based collective of urban contemporary artists, including Maxim Ima, Turben, Ivan Ilinskii, Dusto, and Sergey Krasavin. The group organizes exhibitions and projects in their gallery-studio and other venues.
