Wang Yaohua leads a collective of architects under his name, whose mission is to address the interdependent relationship between art and architecture. “We delight in architectural provocations like the Tate Modern’s Turbine Hall, for example, which shows how architecture can become a spatial catalyst for new artistic production,” they have said. Wang’s designs for buildings are typically dark, menacing structures redolent of science fiction. His Project Buffer (2010) images envision a nest-like structure woven together with strands of fiber by robots.
