Yeanzi
Ivorian, b. 1988
Yeanzi, born in 1988, is an Ivorian artist who graduated from the École Nationale des Beaux-Arts in Abidjan.
His signature technique is fused plastic. The artist's artistic philosophy is at once historical, memorial and utopian. He defines himself as an aesthete and an intellectual for whom painting is merely a tool of expression, and claims an approach based on thematic relevance, emphasizing substance rather than form.
A keen observer of societal mutations, Yeanzi sees his work as a place for preserving a memorial and timeless “essential” that resists the fragility and volatility of fashion. His presence in the Cote d'Ivoire pavilion at the Venice Biennale confirms a certain regularity in his approach, but also, and above all, the coherence of his themes, consolidated over the years by a frank and lucid discourse that forges, beyond aesthetics, the artist's intellectual posture.
