Yuko Kanazawa (金澤 裕子)
Japanese
Painter, illustrator, and graphic designer.
Yuko studied a wide range of contemporary art during her university years, but after that she had no particular desire to create and stayed away from painting for about 10 years. However, in 2011, she was shocked when her hometown in Fukushima was hit by the Great East Japan Earthquake. She thought about what she could do for her hometown and began to rethink her individuality and lifework. After quitting the company she was working for at the time, she spent a year and a half traveling around Japan and abroad to find herself, and felt most comfortable with art creation and decided to pursue this path.
In the future, she wants to present her works as well as engage in social activities through art. Her goal is to further expand her activities in Fukushima, and become an artist representing the region.
