With projects spanning technological design and furniture, Yves Behar is one of the most versatile designers of his generation. Growing up with East German and Turkish parents informed Behar’s approach to design, which blends the aesthetic qualities of each culture into stylish contemporary functionality. “One is functional and modernist and the other, expressive and poetic. I always try to marry the two in my projects,” Behar once said. With his design firm Fusesport, Behar created the Jawbone Bluetooth device, a stylized and simple reinterpretation of the much maligned Bluetooth headset. His portfolio also includes the XO Laptop, designed for children in developing nations, which synthesizes durability and functionality with a playful spirit and a high-tech sleekness.
