Zach Mukwira
Zimbabwean
Zach’s paintings are stories of Africa. He draws his inspiration from old African stories, myths and legends passed through the generations.
His art is a fabric of social and cultural heritage woven into everyday situations of people – discovering how to distill and interpret his interaction with what surrounds him and documenting that personal relationship.
The intention of each piece of art containing an aesthetic formality of illusion built of colour, woven lines, texture and a symphony for the eye.
Usually, an idea is given birth through the story. It comes to life in the womb of fantasy, twins of the same mother. They develop together, one feeding the other, two seeds that unite to create one tree.... Therefore giving fruit to the idea of his painting and creative journey.
Mukwira is a learned man and studied visual arts, dance, theatre and drama. Over the years, Zach has helped to bridge the gap between children with disabilities and the able bodied, by offering to share his skills and talent by teaching drama, visual arts and spoken word at institutions catering to special needs.
Zach Mukwira has a motto in life:” Think blessed....if you fall into a river, check your pockets for fish!!!”
