About Aaron Koblin

Net artist and designer Aaron Koblin is known for his experimentations with data visualization and crowdsourcing. Koblin uses data to create visualizations that reflect on cultural trends and the relationship between humans and computer technology. For Flight Patterns (2005), he used data from the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration to create animations of flight traffic patterns and density. An employee of Google’s Data Arts team, Koblin also creates collaborative online projects in which viewers are invited to participate by drawing images or creating their own animations. He has received acclaim for his experimental music videos produced for the bands Arcade Fire and Radiohead.
