Aaron Zulpo, ‘Hardworking Executives Working Late’, 2014, Watermill Center Summer Benefit Auction 2016

Surreal vignettes of city life project a sense of colorful voyeurism in Aaron Zulpo’s oeuvre. The Rhode Island School of Design graduate reprises surrealism, bringing it firmly forward from European conventions. “We are not all Dali — we are not all melting,” Zulpo has said in an interview with Hyperallergic Magazine. Hardworking Executives Working Late (2014) showcases a brightly-hued, corporate dollhouse, inviting us to look in at each office and its occupants. Zulpo has been featured in Art Gotham, New York, BB Contemporary, New York, and The Woo Space, Beijing.
