Adrian Olabuenaga is the Creative Director and CEO for Acme Studios. In 1985, the company launched with a small limited edition jewelry collection by artist Peter Shire, a member of the Memphis group. Olabuenaga later contacted Ettore Sottsass and many of the other Memphis designers to design jewelry utilizing a cloisonné enamel technique. Sottsass' designed many pieces for the collection and encouraged Adrian to include his designs, as well. The Memphis Designers for Acme collection debuted in 1986, at the opening of the Memphis/Milano exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt Museum in New York City. The entire collection is in the permanent collection of the Groninger Museum in The Netherlands and represented in other museum collections worldwide. The Atomic Necklace won an award from DesignPlus in Germany and was one of the top sellers in the collection. This necklace is from the Acme Studios vault and once these last few are sold, they will be gone forever, making them extremely sought after.
