Informed by queer theory and inspired by geometry, Argentine artist Adriana “Ad” Minoliti reimagines spatial and sexual relationships between bodies, experimenting with formal styles interposed with bold shapes. Using diverse materials in unexpected configurations, Minoliti obscures the implications of recognizable forms. Although Minoliti’s painting and installations are vibrant and playful, her work engages with serious dialogue about the restrictions imposed on queer bodies, offering criticism of the built world, but also proposing creative alternatives. Minoliti identifies and challenges artificial limitations of identity and space, emphasizing exploratory, rather than exclusive, attitudes toward sexuality and gender.
