A.E. Godwin, ‘Debris Flow Reyes Mountain 2’, 2018, Osceola Gallery

The work of A. E. Godwin is a meditative investigation of life-force energy and form created by layered and tangled elements drawn from nature. The Northern California-based artist builds intersecting compositions intuitively and intentionally, combining original digital photographs, topographical maps, satellite images, x-rays, and scientific illustrations. Her first collage-style work began in film and video, produced by layering fragments of found and new footage. She continued her work in web-based applications. Returning to physical and digital image making, A.E. Godwin now makes works on canvas and paper using paint, pencil, and other media, as well as time-based works of layered video image and projected surfaces.
