Agent X, ‘Stardust(B&W)’, 2016, Flat Space Art

Stardust is inspired by David Bowie. One of the most original and singular voices in rock and roll for nearly five decades, Bowie championed mystery, rebellion and curiosity in his music. Ever unpredictable, the mercurial artist and fashion icon wore many guises throughout his life. Beginning life as a dissident folk-rock spaceman, he would become an androgynous, orange-haired, glam-rock alien (Ziggy Stardust), a well-dressed, blue-eyed funk maestro (the Thin White Duke), a drug-loving art rocker (the Berlin albums), a new-wave hit-maker, a hard rocker, a techno enthusiast and a jazz impressionist. His flair for theatricality won him a legion of fans. Stardust is a Black and White Giclée Print From a limited edition of 20, the print is signed and numbered by the artist. Agent X is an experimental multimedia artist, working at the forefront of contemporary art with a unique aesthetic that juxtaposes pop culture, fashion, music, politics and race. His memorable moniker hints at the ungraspable nature of his art, which shifts from piece to piece, never the same while always seeking to probe the role of the artwork. Poignantly, the name Agent X also alludes to a brutal moment in American history: X signifies the last name commonly given to African American slaves and, working under this pseudonym, the elusive artist strives to honour the victims of this history, seeing himself as “a slave to my art in a twisted way.”
